Day two

our first real day in manado. The heat is really starting to pick upas the kids are finding out.

Our “tour leader” has come down with a mystery illness (stress+heat+stress??) so guess who has had to take over!! Oh well, knew it was going to happen!

We were welcomed to Berea in a traditional fashion which we have not experienced before.

Quite a special moment

Kids split up into three groups to hangout with the mums and bubs. I volunteered for the painting group which in hindsight wasn’t the best thing to do heat wise as we were painting the walls of one of their rooms which was really run down. The temperature inside was hitting 45 degrees some don’t know how the babies cope in there. The locals were saying it was hot!!

Got to visit Kezia today. Still as shy as ever so I cut the visit short to give her some space knowing I would see her at the project. Really smart and talented kid. I’m blessed to be involved in her life

Back to the project to meet some of the older kids and play games with them. Afternoon dragged  on a bit due to the heat and organisation (!) but invests so good to get back to the hotel to hit the pool and then run my first debriefing after dinner. Early night as it starts all over again tomorrow!!!
